The Gers is the central department of Gascony is often referred to as the French Tuscany because of it’s rolling countryside and rural villages. The towns and villages are generally situated far apart and local economy is based around farming including vineyards, cereals, cattle and ducks and geese for the foie gras. It is the least densely populated area in France with no major roads or industry hence the air is very clean and its inhabitants live a long and healthy life.
The climate is warm with mild winters and snow is a rarity with temperatures staying above freezing in the winter months.
The Gascony Cookery School is situated in the quiet village of Gramont about 40 miles from Toulouse Airport.
Aside from a fabulous cooking experience, the location is beautiful with amazing views and lots of history. There are quaint little cafes and markets with fresh produce to take back to the School to cook your evening meal. If you don’t want to get involved in the culinary delights, then you can sit on one of the terraces and pass the day with a good book or visit the nearby towns and villages for a bit of sightseeing.
