Spring in Gascony
Our guests left on Wednesday and we have a few days off. We’re using the time wisely by having a good tidy up and doing some long awaited tasks in the garden. Lettuces, tomatoes, courgettes, peppers and other vegetables are now all planted and just waiting for the sun to encourage them to grow.
This week there was a group of vintage car enthusiasts having lunch in the auberge and as you will see from the photos, the cars are fantastic and in great condition.
Yesterday we visited our friends Sue and Mike at their watermill in L’Isle Bouzon for aperitifs. All of a sudden the wind crept up and we noticed what looked like huge snow flakes flying around us and settling on the grass. The weather has been bizarre this year but surely not snow in May??!! No, just the fluffy white seeds from the poplar trees….
Tomorrow David and I are going to the local vineyard for a degustation – could this be included as an excursion in the future for our guests? Hmmmm we will just have to wait and see!!
We were delighted to meet our new guests who arrived on Sunday and we had a trip to the market and lunch in Lectoure. Here they are all enjoying the sunshine and the fabulous views before returning to the Cookery School to fillet fish!
We’d love you to come and visit us in beautiful Gascony so click here to browse our available courses..
